Nota de alcance (en)

Ethnobotanical and general use

The timber is used to a minor extent for durable construction, but its chief value is for fuel and charcoal. The bark is bitter and astringent and used for tanning leather. Leaves and bark have tonic properties and are used by weak, anemic or reconvalescent persons. A decoction gives excellent results against Basedow's disease. A handful of leaves and bark is crushed and boild for 10 minutes in a bottle of water. The filtered decoction is taken by the cup during the day. Sugar can be added for flavouring.
